Significant progress made towards preventing the expansion of Solberg Airport.
In the May 16 special election, a clear majority of Readington voters ratified a $22 million bond for preservation of open space surrounding the Solberg Airport and the airport's development rights. They sent an unambiguous message that they did not want a jetport.

Taxes: Which will cost more to a homeowner the $22M bond or an expanded jetport?
The expanded jetport will cost more. Sound unlikely? Considering that airport expansion will result in
$30,000,000 in additional capital costs and $1,200,000 in annual expenses to Readington Township,
the impact on a house assessed at $400,000 is estimated at
$308/year of increased taxes for a jetport. Compare this to the town's estimate of
$60/year for the bond to fund acquisition of the open space surrounding the
airport.
